Firebase Auth provides authentication services for web and mobile apps with support for multiple identity providers. · Google Cloud · Auth

Changed in Sep 2024: Phone/SMS verification moved off the free Spark plan; it now requires the Blaze plan and billing, with SMS billed per message.

Overview

Firebase Auth offers a simple way to add authentication to apps. Email/password, anonymous, and social sign-in stay free on the Spark plan, but phone/SMS verification now requires the paid Blaze plan.

Good fit

Use when you need quick, secure authentication for web or mobile apps with minimal backend setup.

  • strict enterprise SSO
  • custom auth logic
  • on-premises requirements

  2. Enable Authentication and select desired sign-in methods.
  3. Add Firebase SDK to your app (web, iOS, or Android).
  4. Configure authentication providers in your app code.
